Maxi

Maxi, also written as Makishi, is a character in the Soulcalibur series of fighting games. He first appeared in Soulcalibur and has returned in Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, Soulcalibur V, Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, and Soulcalibur VI. Maxi is a wandering pirate from the Ryukyu Kingdom (present-day Okinawa), known for his expertise with nunchaku. Initially, he is a jovial, somewhat arrogant, and ambitious pirate, but his personality becomes more complex after a series of events. His father was a merchant who was not allowed to trade with foreign countries, so Maxi desires to see the wider world that his father could not. Maxi's fighting style combines Ryukyu martial arts and techniques learned from Zhang Wu, a martial artist from the Ming Dynasty, creating his unique "Shissen Karihadi" style. In the story, he relentlessly pursues his nemesis, Astaroth, seeking revenge for his slain crew, and encounters other characters along the way, embarking on a long journey. He is a prominent figure in the Soulcalibur series.
