Luna (ルナ, Runa) is a fictional character in Namco's Soul series of fighting games. She first appears in Soulcalibur III's side-quest mode Chronicles of the Sword as the player's enemy and rival. She is also an unlockable bonus character in the main game. Luna represents the "Chinese Blade" Create-a-Fighter discipline.
Luna is a cruel orphan girl raised in the kingdom of Dalkia to become one of their finest soldiers. Due to her upbringing, she lost the capability to feel emotion, and was ruthless and merciless to her foes on the battlefield. She soon became the leader of Dalkia's elite, the Klessirpemdo, which she considered her only family.
During the assault on the empire of Grandall, she followed Areon in their attempt at attacking the capital, but was defeated by a young cadet of the empire. She retreated back to Dalkia. Luna would confront the Grandall armies in Dalkia's capital, and later as a supporter of Maletta's armies, but was defeated again and again. With her last chance to settle the score, Luna obtained, by unknown means, the legendary Soul Calibur, hoping it would make a difference in their next confrontation with the cadet. However, even though Abelia Schillfelt was unsuccessful in defeating her elite unit, the cadet was able not only to bring down the defenses but also defeat her. Taken prisoner, Girardot ensured she and her unit would suffer no harm and instructed her that if he were killed in battle, she was to hand the spirit sword to the cadet to confront the emperor. In Chronicle 19, fulfilling her promise, she joins the cadet after lending them Soul Calibur.
