Strife Astlar Grandall

Strife Astlar Grandall (ストライフ・アストラル・グランダール) is a fictional character in the Soulcalibur series of fighting games. He first appears in Soulcalibur III's side-quest mode, Chronicles of the Sword, as the main antagonist and final boss of that mode. He is also an unlockable bonus character in the main game. Strife is the sole heir of the Astlar dynasty, rulers of the Grandall Empire. Appointed ruler at the young age of ten after his father's death in battle, Strife was consumed by greed and power. His relatives constantly plotted to kill him and seize control of Grandall. The stress and fear took a toll on his sanity, and he began to hear voices emanating from within his castle. This led to his complete corruption, executing relatives, torturing anyone he suspected, and turning his leadership into a dictatorship. He also began to amass armies in secret and acquired the cursed Soul Edge, further deteriorating his mind. Despite being the final boss, Strife is primarily a figure giving orders until late in the story where his true malevolence is revealed. He is eventually defeated in battle by the player.
