Kitakami

Kitakami is a character in the game "Kantai Collection" (KanColle), a ship girl based on the Imperial Japanese Navy light cruiser Kitakami. She is the third ship of the Kuma-class light cruisers. Her personality is described as inconsistent, sometimes genuinely nice, and other times trolling her companion, Abukuma. She often expresses annoyance with destroyers. Kitakami is notable for her ability to be upgraded into a Torpedo Cruiser, possessing the highest torpedo stat in the game, and equipped with a Type A Kouhyouteki for pre-emptive torpedo attacks, making her a formidable night battle unit. Kitakami is closely associated with Ooi, also a Torpedo Cruiser, and they are often deployed together. In the game, Kitakami starts as a light cruiser, and can be remodeled into Kitakami Kai and Kitakami Kai Ni, with each upgrade significantly increasing her battle capabilities. Historically, Kitakami underwent multiple refits, eventually serving as a carrier for Kaiten suicide torpedoes. She is a popular character, beloved by many players for her unique design and powerful combat potential.
