Ashigara

Ashigara is a Kanmusu (ship girl) in the game "Kantai Collection" (KanColle), based on the Imperial Japanese Navy heavy cruiser Ashigara. She is the third ship of the Myoko-class heavy cruisers and is known for her dedication to victory, earning her the nickname "Hungry Wolf." This nickname allegedly originated from the British Royal Navy's evaluation of her ship's living conditions during her participation in the Coronation Review of King George VI. In the game, Ashigara is depicted as a strong and independent girl with chest-length brown hair and brown eyes. She has a strong desire for battle and victory but also possesses a feminine side, reportedly being good at cooking, particularly curry. She is often portrayed with wolf ears or fangs in fan art due to her nickname. Despite the "Christmas Cake" meme associated with her, she remains a popular character among players, recognized for her unique personality and historical background. The real-life Ashigara served actively in the Southeast Asian theater of World War II until her sinking by a British submarine.
