Asashio

Asashio is a destroyer girl in "Kantai Collection" (KanColle), the lead ship of the Asashio-class destroyers. In the game, Asashio is known for her dutiful personality and serious attitude, which sometimes makes her the subject of mockery. She is widely regarded as an honor student and possesses a base Kai Ni form and an alternate Kai Ni D form. The Kai Ni D form transforms her into a dedicated anti-submarine destroyer with improved anti-air and anti-submarine stats, at the cost of some surface combat capabilities. Asashio's initial and Kai forms are characterized by her long, straight black hair and blue eyes. She wears a short skirt with suspenders, a white short-sleeved shirt, and black thigh-highs, and carries a randoseru-like structure on her back. She wields a quad torpedo launcher and a twin-gun turret. Historically, Asashio was completed in August 1937 and sunk in the Battle of the Bismarck Sea in March 1943. Her sinking is associated with her attempt to rescue survivors from the transport ship Nojima and her sister ship Arashio. In the game, she is also depicted as a very loyal character to the Admiral, which reflects her historical actions in sacrificing herself to rescue her comrades. She has various voice lines in the game, including hourly, seasonal, and battle lines that show her dutiful and serious personality.
