Akigumo

Akigumo (秋雲, あきぐも) is a destroyer girl (kanmusu) in the Japanese browser game *Kantai Collection* (KanColle), also known as Combined Fleet Girls Collection. She is the 19th ship of the Kagerō-class destroyers. Akigumo's character design is by Fujikawa, and her voice actress is Ayana Taketatsu. Akigumo has a unique appearance that combines elements of both the Kagerō-class and Yūgumo-class destroyers, as she wears a Yūgumo-style sailor uniform with Kagerō-class equipment. This is due to her historical background as a transitional ship between the two classes. Akigumo is portrayed as an energetic and somewhat scatterbrained character who enjoys drawing and often references being a doujin artist in the game, even having lines about deadlines. A distinctive feature is the beauty mark on her right cheek. In the game, Akigumo has base, Kai (modified), and Kai Ni (second modification) forms, each with unique artwork and stats. The Kai Ni form has altered equipment and new limited-time artwork, such as a collaboration with “Nakau” and autumn casual outfits. Akigumo is popular among players, often mistaken for a Yūgumo-class ship, but is actually the final Kagerō-class destroyer. Her historical inspiration is the Japanese destroyer Akigumo from World War II.
