Taihou (たいほう, Taihō) is a character from the card-based web game 'Kantai Collection' (艦隊これくしょん -艦これ-) and its related works, developed by Kadokawa Games. She is voiced by Mamiko Noto and based on the aircraft carrier Taihō. Taihou is the first armored aircraft carrier introduced in the game, with a construction time of 6 hours and 40 minutes. In the game, she features an enclosed bow design, which enhances her adaptability to sea conditions. She uses a crossbow as her weapon, rather than the yumi (Japanese bow) used by other regular aircraft carriers, symbolizing her greater aircraft-launching power. A notable trait is that as an armored carrier, she can engage in shelling battles even when heavily damaged. After remodeling, her aircraft capacity reaches 86, and her firepower increases to 59, making her one of the top carriers. Although later Kai Ni variants of the Fifth Carrier Division pose a challenge in terms of durability, firepower, and evasion, Taihou maintains her place as a competitive carrier with her three-slot fighter bombers. Taihou is a well-loved character by the players of the game for her power and unique personality and character design.
