Yamakaze

Yamakaze (やまかぜ) is a Kanmusu character in the game *Kantai Collection* (艦隊これくしょん, KanColle). She is the eighth of the Shiratsuyu-class destroyers and the second of the Kai Shiratsuyu-class (or sometimes referred to as the Umikaze-class). Designed by Kujou Ichiso and voiced by Chinami Hashimoto, she is characterized by her long, blue-green hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. She wears a black, white, and blue uniform similar to other Kai Shiratsuyu-class destroyers, but is shorter than her sisters, reflecting her earlier sinking in history. Yamakaze has an introverted, shy, and stoic personality, desiring companionship despite outwardly denying it. In the game, she can be remodeled into Yamakaze Kai and Yamakaze Kai Ni, each with different art and stats. Yamakaze was initially introduced as a drop-only ship during a Fall 2016 event, later becoming a permanent drop. Her in-game voice lines often reveal her inner anxiety and loneliness, but she also demonstrates impressive combat abilities. She was the last of the Shiratsuyu-class destroyers to be implemented in the game, and the first destroyer group to be completed (excluding the special cases of the Akatsuki-class and Shimakaze).
