Hamanami

Hamanami is a ship girl character in "Kantai Collection," also known as KanColle. She is the 13th ship of the Yuugumo-class destroyers, known for her timid and gloomy personality. She often stutters, speaking quickly, sparsely, and quietly, sometimes even omitting entire words or phrases. Her name translates to "beach waves." Historically, Hamanami was completed in October 1943 and was initially used for training before escorting convoys, including the ill-fated Philippine Sea. She was present at the Battle of Leyte Gulf but did not see action as a rear guard, though she did participate in the scuttling of Noshiro and the rescue of her crew. On a return convoy to Leyte, she was sunk by aircraft from Task Force 38 on November 11, 1944. In the game, Hamanami's art and lines reflect her introverted nature. She is typically depicted wearing a school uniform with a purple pleated dress and a blue bow tie. She can be upgraded to Hamanami Kai, gaining additional equipment and abilities. Her voice lines also hint at her fear of battle and her bond with her comrades.
