Johnston

Johnston is a destroyer character in the Japanese browser game *Kantai Collection* (KanColle), based on the real-life US Navy *Fletcher*-class destroyer USS *Johnston* (DD-557). She is characterized by her blonde twin-tails, energetic personality, and frequent use of English phrases. Johnston is known in the game for her strong anti-air capabilities and her ability to launch preemptive anti-submarine attacks, especially with her unique anti-air cut-in attacks when equipped with certain weapons. Her design incorporates many historical elements, such as her headdress representing the ship's bridge, her hair ribbons representing her radio call sign, the stars on her collar representing her battle stars, and the Medal of Honor on her left arm commemorating her commander, Ernest E. Evans. Johnston is obtained through event drops and can be remodeled, enhancing her abilities and unlocking new appearances. She has various limited-edition illustrations, including swimwear, anniversary, Valentine's Day, Halloween, and kimono versions, all of which are highly popular among players.
