Hirato

Hirato (ひらと) is a character in the game *Kantai Collection* (艦隊これくしょん, also known as KanColle), representing the ninth ship of the Etorofu-class coastal defense ships of the former Imperial Japanese Navy. In the game, Hirato is personified as a bespectacled young girl, known for her calm, slightly mature appearance and gentle personality. Her words and actions reveal a strong sense of responsibility and protectiveness towards the commander (Admiral), stemming from her tragic historical experience. Historically, Hirato participated in numerous escort missions, but was ultimately sunk by an enemy submarine while on escort duty, with heavy losses to her convoy. Hirato's voice lines and dialogue often express her regret for not being able to protect her comrades, and a strong desire to protect the Admiral this time. In the game, Hirato has excellent anti-submarine capabilities and mainly undertakes anti-submarine missions in the fleet. Her character design, including the glasses, long-sleeved uniform and skirt details, showcase her unique charm. In addition to her usual form, Hirato also has a limited edition outfit from a collaboration with Mitsukoshi department store, showing a different side of her.
