Usugumo

Usugumo (うすぐも) is a destroyer ship girl in the game "Kantai Collection" (艦隊これくしょん, KanColle), based on the Japanese Imperial Navy's Fubuki-class destroyer, Usugumo, the seventh ship of her class. She is designed by Shibafu and voiced by Yurika Moriyama. Usugumo is characterized by her silver-grey hair and red ribbon, and typically wears a special-type destroyer uniform. She has a gentle personality and strong feelings for the northern seas and the Fifth Fleet. Her lines often mention her experiences in the northern seas, including operations at the Kuril Islands, Attu Island, and Kiska Island. She served as a member of the 9th Destroyer Division and the 18th Destroyer Division of the First Torpedo Squadron. Usugumo was first implemented in the game as a clear reward in the 2020 rainy season event. A unique feature of her is that she was revealed early as a character for a Lawson convenience store collaboration, and she has a rain-limited "Tsuyu Mode" artwork. In the game, Usugumo has balanced stats, excels in torpedo attacks and anti-submarine warfare, making her a useful destroyer ship girl in early events. Outside of the game, Usugumo is popular among players for her unique appearance and personality, with many fan-made works, including illustrations and novels. In some fan works, her image is further expanded upon, such as her being depicted as a race queen or her interactions with other ship girls.
