Conte di Cavour was the lead ship of the Conte di Cavour-class battleships built for the Royal Italian Navy in the 1910s. She served in World War I, though saw little action. She supported operations during the Corfu Incident in 1923. She underwent a major reconstruction from 1933 to 1937, receiving more powerful guns, additional armor, and increased speed. During World War II, she participated in the Battle of Calabria and was heavily damaged by British torpedo bombers at Taranto. She was run aground and not repaired, eventually being scrapped in 1946. In the game *Kantai Collection*, Conte di Cavour is personified as a young woman with brown eyes and long light grey hair, wearing a white and grey frilled dress and bearing several cannons. Being the shortest and oldest battleship in the game, she is self-conscious about her height, complains about back pain from her equipment, and has a complicated relationship with other Italian ship girls. She is friendly with Gangut. The ship was named after Italy's first prime minister, Camillo Benso (the Count of Cavour).
