Yamashio Maru

Yamashio Maru is a kanmusu (ship girl) from the game "Kantai Collection" (KanColle), based on the Type 2TL special escort carrier of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. She is categorized as an auxiliary ship in the game, possessing characteristics of both an aircraft carrier and a supply ship. Yamashio Maru has an energetic and polite personality, using honorifics when addressing the admiral, but has very poor drinking habits, becoming extremely uninhibited when drunk. Her design details include: a light brown collared jacket, a brown suspender corset, black fingerless gloves, and an asymmetrical half-black half-brown skirt. She often wears over-the-knee socks patterned with an aircraft carrier deck and black long boots. She also has different appearances during various in-game events and festivals, such as kimono, swimwear, yukata, and Christmas outfits. Her historical prototype was a wartime standard vessel, built as an oiler and later converted to an escort carrier, but was never actually put into use, being sunk in Yokohama harbor during an air raid. In the game, she provides fleet replenishment and is strategically important in some event maps. She also interacts with other Army ship girls, such as Akitsu Maru.
