Nanimon

Original Title:ナニモン

Languages:

  • Chinese: 什么兽
  • Japanese: ナニモン
  • English: Nanimon
Nanimon is a character in the Digimon franchise, whose design is inspired by Oyajitchi from the original Tamagotchi virtual pet. According to the Digimon Reference Book, Nanimon is literally Oyajitchi itself, having evolved after invading the Digital World from the Tamagotchi world. Its name, "OYAJI", is a casual Japanese term for "old man," and its attack technique, "Oyaji Punch," reflects this origin. In the anime, Nanimon is often portrayed as a heavy drinker and a bossy character. In Digimon Adventure, Nanimon served as a drill sergeant for Myotismon's army, and his weakness was alcohol. Nanimon has also appeared in various other Digimon works, such as Digimon Frontier and Digimon Adventure:, playing different roles. Its presence varies in games as well, with some having it as an obtainable Digimon, and others as an enemy or NPC. In Digimon World, it can even be evolved by lowering the Digimon's happiness and discipline. Nanimon's unique design and settings have made it a popular character among Digimon fans.
