Mimicmon

Mimicmon is a Mutant Digimon of the Champion level in the Digimon series. It is thought to have mutated from security software used to protect computer terminals. Initially, it appears as a rusted, abandoned old cage. However, when it senses the presence of Virus-type Digimon, a black haze materializes within the cage, and a long, ghastly arm stretches out from between the bars. This is because it captures and absorbs invading Virus-type Digimon like a trap, which changes its attribute. Mimicmon's design is based on the cages from early Digimon Virtual Pets, resembling those used in the Digimon Caged Figure toy series. This cage houses a mysterious shadow creature with a single eye and various Digimon body parts, with one arm ending in a flamethrower. It also has a chained wrecking ball attached to the underside of its cage body. The DigiCode on its cage tags reads ZIP. During development, Mimicmon's design was based on a barrel instead of a cage. It was also envisioned as an executioner. An earlier design was a humanoid beast wielding a sword and shield. Other designs lacked the wrecking ball/chain and gun, featuring claws instead. It was made a Virus attribute to balance the attributes in the V-pets and games. Its development name was "Rebellimon." The name was later changed to Mimicmon as it was deemed better suited to the mimic design. The name was later reused for Rebellimon.
