Yatagaramon is a fictional Digimon from the Digimon franchise. It is characterized by its three legs and its bizarre, bewitching bird-like form. Despite its jet-black appearance, which might suggest an evil nature, it is said to guide the chosen ones to the “Golden Land” in the east of the Digital World. The “Golden Land” is a mysterious region, protected by multiple sacred barriers. Yatagaramon is tasked with dispelling these barriers, but only those who overcome the “Triple Trials” it presents can reach it. Those who fail the trials are sent to the Dark Area. Yatagaramon's special move, “Mikafutsu-no-kami,” involves concentrating the energy produced by the vajra on its wings into its forelegs and firing it, which can break down a Digimon's digital cells into “0” and “1” states. Additionally, it can use “Haguro,” a black light emitted from its black feathers, to turn the surrounding area within a 3-kilometer radius into a dark night.
Yatagaramon's design is inspired by Yatagarasu, a mythical three-legged crow in Japanese folklore associated with the sun goddess Amaterasu and victory. Its design incorporates aspects of both Yatagarasu and the three-legged crow from Chinese mythology. Yatagaramon has appeared in various Digimon media as a significant character or evolution form.
