Evil Ryu, also known as Satsui no Hado ni Mezameta Ryu or Dark Ryu, is a corrupted version of Ryu from the Street Fighter series. This character is not part of the official canon but rather a 'what if' scenario exploring what would happen if Ryu succumbed to the Satsui no Hado (Surge of Killing Intent). He first appeared in the Street Fighter Zero manga in 1996, before becoming a playable character in Street Fighter Alpha 2. Evil Ryu is typically depicted with a black gi, red eyes, and a violent fighting style, contrasting sharply with Ryu's pursuit of martial arts perfection. Consumed by the Satsui no Hado, he is ruthless, power-hungry, and even sadistic. Despite this, a sliver of Ryu's consciousness remains, causing internal conflict. In some appearances, he fights to resist the Satsui no Hado. Evil Ryu represents the darker aspects of Ryu's nature and has become a popular anti-hero figure.
