Shang Tsung is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat franchise, debuting as the final boss in the original 1992 game and becoming one of the series' primary antagonists. He is a powerful sorcerer renowned for his ability to shapeshift into other characters and absorb the souls of his defeated opponents. Shang Tsung is often depicted as a right-hand man of Outworld's Emperor Shao Kahn and an archenemy of the Shaolin monk Liu Kang. He has served as a villain in multiple games, including forming the Deadly Alliance with Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and as the main antagonist in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath. Shang Tsung's appearance varies, sometimes showing as an elderly man and sometimes as a younger figure, reflecting his reliance on soul absorption to sustain his life and power. He is greedy and cunning, willing to do anything for power, making him one of the most iconic villains in the Mortal Kombat series.
