  • Japanese: 水神, すいじん
  • English: Water God
The Water God is a deity in the Mortal Kombat series, first appearing in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. He is one of the guardian gods assigned by Raiden to protect the Amulet of Shinnok in the Temple of Elements. The Water God possesses the ability to control the element of water, capable of firing high-pressure water jets and teleporting. He was defeated by the elder Sub-Zero, who then gained access to the fire area of the temple. In the Mortal Kombat universe, the Water God is a regular god, less powerful than the Elder Gods, and only has power over his specific realm. He is one of Earthrealm’s guardian gods, along with Raiden, the Wind God, the Fire God, and the Earth God. Although less powerful than the Elder Gods, the Water God can still interfere in mortal affairs, provided he takes a human form. Limited information is available about the Water God, and his appearances are mostly in the earlier games. In some spin-off works, such as the film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, the Water God appears as a female, discussing Earth's fate with the Wind and Fire Gods. In the Mortal Kombat comics and games, the Water God acts as a protector, but his specific fate and standing in the story are not fully defined.
