Lucifer

Lucifer in the Mortal Kombat series is a mysterious character who was once the ruler and protector of the Netherrealm. There is no explicit explanation of his origins or how he became the king of the Netherrealm. Lucifer was in charge when Shinnok was defeated by Raiden and the Elder Gods and banished to the Netherrealm. He was responsible for the constant torture Shinnok suffered for millennia. Lucifer was overthrown when Shinnok allied himself with the sorcerer Quan Chi, with Shinnok becoming the new ruler of the Netherrealm. Lucifer's fate after being overthrown is unknown, as is his current status. A backward dialogue in Deception's Konquest Mode suggests that Lucifer may be of the same race as Shao Kahn and Raiden, implying that he could also be a god and protector of the Netherrealm. Lucifer's role in the Mortal Kombat series is somewhat ambiguous, often mentioned as part of the background story rather than a playable character. Fans have speculated about his background and power, but he has always maintained a mysterious image in the game. In short, Lucifer is an enigmatic and intriguing figure in the Mortal Kombat universe whose identity and experience are yet to be fully revealed.
