Dairou is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, making his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deception. He was once a member of the Seidan Guard, but was imprisoned for killing the man who murdered his family in an act of revenge. After escaping prison, Dairou became a mercenary, working for whoever paid him, regardless of good or evil. He is a stealthy fighter, relying on pop-up abilities and strategy rather than powerful projectiles or brute strength. Dairou can slam his body on the ground to launch opponents and can swap places with them. In Mortal Kombat: Deception, Dairou is hired to free Shujinko from prison and to steal Seido's constitution. Despite his neutrality, Dairou ends up working with the resistance. He joins the Forces of Darkness in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and is presumed killed during the battle. However, in the new timeline, Havik, a character from Chaosrealm, is revealed to have the real name Dairou, leading some to believe Havik is that timeline's Dairou. Dairou is visually depicted as an Asian-style monk warrior with red markings on his head and a long ponytail. His fighting styles include Wing Chun and Escrima, and he uses a large, modified dao as his weapon.
