Kobra is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, debuting in Mortal Kombat: Deception. He is described as Mortal Kombat's stock street brawler character, infamous for his brutality and savage killings, showing no mercy to his opponents. Introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception as the second of Kabal's recruits for the new Black Dragon clan, he is a gifted young martial artist eager to test his skills. Kobra is a tall man with shoulder-length blonde hair, wearing a white karate gi with black and gold trim and symbols on the front and back. He initially uses kali sticks as his weapons in the games, later switching to a machete in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. His fighting styles include Shorin-Ryu karate and American kickboxing. Kobra tested his martial arts skills in New York's back alleys, initially targeting street gangs before moving on to drug dealers and gang members. His thrill for killing grew, and he began robbing convenience stores and gas stations. After being arrested by the police, he was rescued by Kabal and Kira, who recruited him into the new Black Dragon. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, he encountered Taven, fighting him in the Botan Jungle. In his ending, Kobra defeats Blaze and gains god-like powers, demanding to rule all realms and making Kira his goddess of death, only to be killed by Kira. Kobra has been referred to as a rip-off of Ken Masters from Street Fighter due to his physical resemblance. Some consider him an example of the Mortal Kombat development team running out of ideas.
