Argus is a significant character in the Mortal Kombat series, first appearing in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. He is the protector god of Edenia, the husband of the powerful sorceress Delia, and the father of Taven, Daegon, and Rain. Argus is one of the most powerful gods of Edenia, tasked with protecting the realm from outside threats. Due to his wife Delia's visions of a future apocalypse caused by the Mortal Kombat tournament, Argus sought to prevent it. He planned a competition between his sons, Taven and Daegon, to determine who would defeat the fire elemental Blaze, thus averting the impending crisis. Argus also created obelisks to aid his sons in their training. However, Argus and Delia were later killed by Daegon, although some endings suggest they may still be alive. In the new timeline, Argus has become the god-protector of Outworld. He is one of the overarching protagonists of the Mortal Kombat series, though primarily appears as a supporting character. In some endings, his backstory and relationships with other characters are further revealed, such as his being the father of Rain.
