Takeda Takahashi is a significant character in the Mortal Kombat series. He is the son of the blind swordsman Kenshi Takahashi and a student of Shirai Ryu leader Hanzo Hasashi (Scorpion). Takeda first appeared in the Mortal Kombat X comic series and made his debut as a playable character in the Mortal Kombat X game, serving as one of the protagonists. In the game, he joins the 'Kombat Kids' team alongside Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, and Jacqui Briggs. Takeda is skilled in using bladed whips and plasma swords, and possesses telepathic and teleportation abilities. He is also a highly trained warrior, inheriting the fighting styles of both Scorpion and Kenshi. Initially timid, he becomes more serious after the destruction of the Shirai Ryu. Takeda's background varies in different timelines; in some, he is Kenshi's son, while in others, he is his cousin. Regardless, he possesses exceptional combat skills. He returns as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1 and appears as an antagonist in the story mode, with his backstory changed once again. Takeda is proud of his connection to the Shirai Ryu and always wears a yellow headband. His costume designs vary across versions, but he always maintains the yellow headband associated with Shirai Ryu, as well as incorporating the combat styles of his mentor Scorpion and his father Kenshi into his fighting techniques.
