Oniro

Oniro is a character from the Mortal Kombat series, who was formerly the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei clan. He appears in the animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm and is presented as a leader of the Lin Kuei before the clan underwent cybernetic automation. Oniro's reign is marked by his obsession with technological enhancements, ordering the transformation of Lin Kuei ninjas into cyborg warriors. However, he himself remained human. Oniro demonstrates formidable fighting skills and possesses the power of shapeshifting, capable of partially or entirely transforming into animals, such as cat claws or a fire-breathing dragon. He's also a master of ninjutsu and hand-to-hand combat. In the story, he forces Smoke into cybernetic conversion but is ultimately defeated by Smoke, who recovers his memories, leading to Oniro falling into an abyss, only to escape by transforming into a bird. Oniro’s design and abilities are partly inspired by Shang Tsung from the Mortal Kombat franchise.
