Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa's Revenge, also known as Samurai Spirits: Amakusa Kourin in Japan, is a 2D fighting game released by SNK in 1996 as the fourth installment in the Samurai Shodown series. Set chronologically between the events of the original Samurai Shodown and Samurai Shodown II, it revolves around the resurrection of Shiro Tokisada Amakusa and the chaos that ensues. The game retains classic elements of the series while introducing new mechanics such as the CD combo, the suicide move, and fatalities, with a more cartoonish visual style. Players can choose between 'Slash' and 'Bust' versions of characters, including the newly introduced Kazama brothers. Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa's Revenge was well-received and is considered a classic within the series, having been ported to various platforms.
