Kenkaku Ibunroku - Yomigaerishi Soukou no Yaiba - Samurai Spirits Shinshou, also known as Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage, is a 3D fighting game developed by SNK Corporation and released exclusively for the PlayStation in Japan in 1999. It's the seventh main installment in the Samurai Shodown series and takes place about twenty years after the original games. The story revolves around the criminal island of Ritenkyo and the "League of the Three Blades of Domination" who seek to overthrow the shogunate. The game features a new health system, many new characters, and only a few returning characters such as Haohmaru, whose moves are also modified. It emphasizes storytelling and is labeled as "Sword Drama Entertainment" by SNK. A drama CD also exists, which tells the story predating the game's events. Despite its acclaimed soundtrack, the game is considered a low point in the series due to its poor production values and negative reviews.
