Samurai Shodown Sen, also known as Samurai Spirits Sen in Japan and Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny in other regions, is the 11th installment in the Samurai Shodown series and the fourth 3D fighting game in the franchise, developed by SNK Playmore. It was initially released in arcades in 2008, followed by a port to the Xbox 360 in 2009. Created to commemorate the series' 15th anniversary, the game attempts to blend traditional 2D fighting mechanics within a 3D environment. While innovating with systems like "Special Step" and "Fastest Input," and retaining elements like the Rage Explosion, its departure from the series' traditional style led to mixed reception. Set in 1791, the story follows American Revolutionary War veteran Golba's attempts to incite a global revolution. The character roster includes both classic and new fighters, with Xbox 360 version adding playable boss characters. Despite its 3D graphics, the game maintains a 2D plane movement system in combat. The soundtrack features a mix of traditional Japanese music with modern elements like rock and pop.
