Haohmaru

Haohmaru (覇王丸) is the main protagonist of the Samurai Shodown series and one of its most iconic characters. He is a ronin swordsman, not serving any lord, but embodying a strong "samurai spirit." Known for his powerful swordsmanship and boisterous personality, Haohmaru is often credited with defeating the series' main antagonists. His character is inspired by the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, as well as Hyakkimaru from the manga Dororo. He enjoys fighting strong opponents, and travels constantly to hone his skills. Haohmaru carries a sake jug which he sometimes uses as a weapon. His signature moves include the Kogetsuzan (Arc Moon Slash) and Senpuu Retsu Zan (Whirlwind Rending Slash). Despite his rough exterior, he has a sensitive side, as seen in his relationship with Oshizu. Haohmaru has appeared in numerous Samurai Shodown games and has made cameos in other SNK crossover games such as Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum.
