Jubei Yagyu

Jubei Yagyu is a classic character in SNK's fighting game series *Samurai Shodown*, first appearing in the original game. He is a seasoned warrior, one-eyed, and the master of Yagyū Shinkage-ryū. Jubei Yagyu is a fictionalized interpretation of the real-life historical figure Yagyū Jūbei Mitsuyoshi, son of Yagyū Munenori, the founder of Yagyū Shinkage-ryū, who personally taught him swordsmanship. In the game, Jubei is a secret swordsman of the shogunate, loyal to the Tokugawa shogunate, while also pursuing personal enlightenment as a ronin. He uses a two-sword style and is known for his powerful moves and unique parrying techniques. Jubei is often depicted as a calm and somewhat humorous character who enjoys sweets and appreciates young warriors with potential. He has connections with characters like Hanzo Hattori and was also a swordsmanship teacher to Yoshitora Tokugawa. Jubei's character design may have been inspired by Jubei Yagyu from the 1981 film *Samurai Reincarnation*.
