Earthquake, known as アースクェイク in Japanese, is a character from the *Samurai Spirits* (also known as *Samurai Shodown*) series. He debuted in the first *Samurai Shodown* game, but was removed from the playable roster after *Samurai Shodown II*. However, he continues to make cameo appearances in some character endings. Earthquake is a giant from Texas who trained under the same master as ex-sailor Galford, Ayame, but quit early due to his bad relationship with Galford. Despite his enormous size, he is deceptively fast and tricky thanks to his ninja training. His combination of size and ninjutsu makes him a formidable warrior. He uses this to his advantage, becoming a bandit and leader of his own gang. When Amakusa starts causing trouble, he decides to steal all the world's treasure. A year later, Mizuki hires him telepathically, promising him gold if he kills her targets. After Mizuki's defeat, Earthquake and his henchmen are lured by the promise of greater treasure into the Makai, and are never heard from again. Earthquake respects no one but himself and his minions. He is driven by greed, wanting to revel in material wealth that he feels he deserves. Like most bandits, he is rude and shameless towards others. He was also portrayed as a lovable fool in the RPG, where he would insult heroes after his defeat, only to humorously get lost while escaping. His immense weight is partly due to his disappointment in courting, having been rejected by many women.
