Basara Kubikiri

Basara Kubikiri, also known as Basara "The Executioner", is a character from the Samurai Shodown series, first introduced in Samurai Shodown III. Basara is a yūrei, a ghost "reborn" due to extreme hatred harbored before his death. In his previous life, he lived peacefully with his lover, Kagaribi, until the demonic swordsman Zankuro slaughtered everyone. Basara blames "the demon" Zankuro for Kagaribi's death, but in Samurai Shodown V, it's revealed that Basara himself killed her. In Samurai Shodown III, he remembers his death and aimlessly seeks revenge on Zankuro. In Samurai Shodown IV, he discovers Amakusa caused his "rebirth", and attempts to kill him. Amakusa ultimately seals Basara using an illusion of Kagaribi. Basara utilizes shurikens and possesses shadow manipulation abilities, with a fighting style resembling ninjas. His notable traits include a shrill laugh and a claim that life is “a beautiful nightmare.”
