Zankuro Minazuki

Zankuro Minazuki is a major antagonist in the SNK fighting game series, *Samurai Shodown*. He first appears as the final boss in *Samurai Shodown III* and reappears as a boss or playable character in subsequent games. Once a powerful swordsman, Zankuro was obsessed with perfecting his swordsmanship, leading him down a path of mass slaughter and earning him the moniker 'The Demon'. However, upon encountering a young girl, he found himself unable to kill, leading to self-reflection on his sins. He then retreats to hermitage, only drawing his blade to duel worthy opponents. He has a complex relationship with the protagonist, Shizumaru Hisame, and is repeatedly resurrected and embroiled in new battles. Zankuro wields a large zanbato, known for his immense strength and swift attacks. He doesn't rely on magic or dark powers, but instead on pure swordsmanship and combat prowess. In *Samurai Shodown VI*, he finally chooses to abandon the sword for his daughter and seek redemption.
