Sogetsu Kazama

Sogetsu Kazama (風間蒼月, Kazama Sōgetsu) is a significant character in the Samurai Shodown series. He first appeared as one of the main protagonists in Samurai Shodown IV. Sogetsu is a calm and composed ninja who suppresses his emotions to faithfully fulfill his duties. He values his family and deeply loves his younger siblings, but he expresses his care by keeping his distance, silently protecting them, and carefully steering clan members away from their locations. Despite telling his sister Hazuki that she is dead in his eyes, he never implies abandonment, knowing he must maintain this facade to ensure everyone's survival. In battle, Sogetsu transforms into an arrogant and merciless warrior who belittles incompetent opponents, but occasionally takes interest in those who pique his curiosity. This attitude is likely the result of Suija, the water demon sealed within his sword. In certain moments, he and his brother Kazuki will compete, but they never escalate to a deathmatch. Sogetsu knows he is clearly superior to Kazuki, but he also senses that the latter has greater latent potential. Sogetsu's fighting style differs from Kazuki's, specializing in long-range attacks, especially his powerful slash attack. He can manipulate water to attack enemies, such as spraying water jets and throwing bubbles. In his Rasetsu/Bust form, he becomes a more effective close-quarters fighter, using water for defense and close-range attacks.
