  • Japanese: 巌陀羅
  • English: Gandara
Gandara (巖陀羅) is a monstrous creature created by Yuga the Destroyer in the Samurai Shodown series. It is composed of countless corpses stitched together and controlled by Yuga's forbidden magic. Gandara is symbolized by a fetus and shares the same stylized eye as Yuga and his servants. In the game, it serves as Yuga's bodyguard, and despite its overwhelming strength, it is ultimately defeated by Kazuki and Sogetsu Kazama. In *Samurai Shodown 64: Warriors Rage*, Gandaras are mass-produced after Yuga's revival. Although incredibly powerful, Gandara is a clumsy fighter, often losing its balance in combat. It cannot block attacks, instead absorbing them with its thick armor, and most of its attacks are unblockable. Gandara's weaknesses lie in its slow movement and recovery time. It is fiercely loyal to its master, serving as a slow yet powerful tank unit in Yuga’s army. It also appears to be in some kind of pain, but will always carry out its master's orders. Its design in the game serves to symbolize the perversion of life and the exploitation of death, adding a grim tone to the world of Samurai Shodown.
