Asura

Asura (アスラ) is a significant character in the Samurai Shodown (サムライスピリッツ) series, particularly known as the main protagonist of Samurai Shodown 64: Warriors Rage. He is often depicted as a powerful warrior with eight black wings, although these are not visible in gameplay. Asura appeared suddenly in the Netherworld in ancient times, wreaking havoc with his swordsmanship and mastery of the Seven Ancient Weapons. He was defeated and sealed by Yuga the Destroyer, who sought to unite the world and the Netherworld. During the events of Samurai Shodown 64, Yuga was defeated, weakening the seal and allowing Asura to escape. He teamed up with his clone, Shadow Asura, to defeat Yuga and merged to ensure his clone's survival. Later, it's revealed that Asura is just a shade of the real Asura. His clone retained the original memories, while Asura only has the original abilities and hatred for Yuga. Asura's personality is driven by hatred for Yuga, with a singular goal of destroying him. His fighting style is versatile, effective at both close and long ranges. His special attacks are named after reversed fallen angels/demons, and his super move "Thanatos" references the Spear of Longinus. His weapons feature unique eyes and designs similar to those on other character's weapons.
