Iga ninjas

The Iga ninjas (伊賀忍軍) are a fictional ninja organization in the *Samurai Shodown* series, primarily featured in *Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage*. These ninjas serve under Hanzo Hattori and fight for the pride of Iga. Although they appear as generic characters in the game, they still display remarkable assassination skills. In the game's plot, the player-controlled character is actually a clumsy Koga ninja who accidentally infiltrates the Iga forces, unaware of their presence. The Iga ninjas' fighting style is a simplified version of Hanzo Hattori's, characterized by faster movements but weaker attacks. They add a layer of mystique to the *Samurai Shodown* series and provide a unique gameplay experience. The Iga ninjas are inspired by the historical Iga-ryū ninjas. The Iga-ryū is one of the most famous ninja traditions in Japan known for unique fighting skills and stealth. Ninjas from the Iga region were known for specialized skills and tactics including disguise, escape, concealment, explosives, medicine and poisons, as well as unarmed combat and weapons use, all of which are reflected in the Iga ninja characters in *Samurai Shodown*.
