Claude (クロード, Kurōdo) is a character introduced in the Samurai Shodown series, specifically in Samurai Shodown Sen. He is a guard from a foreign kingdom who washed ashore in Japan with Suzu ten years before the game begins. Suffering from amnesia and realizing that they may never see their home again, he adopts the local culture and trains himself in kendo under a respectable monk. After being attacked by someone from his homeland, he leaves his residence to investigate. During his fight with Golba, Claude regains his memories and learns that he was a hero who rebelled against the villain in the past. He resolves to defeat Golba, and in his ending, he saves Suzuhime and decides to send her home to Lesphia. However, seeing her loved ones calling out to her, he leaves unnoticed. Years later, he becomes the head priest of his temple. Claude is a devout believer in religion and a serious combatant. He seems torn between his current status in Japan and his past life in Lesphia. His fighting style features powerful one-hit attacks that can be strung together in combos, making him easy for beginners. However, he has a short attack range and slow recovery from slash attacks.
