Languages:

  • Chinese: 希德·海温德
  • Japanese: シド・ハイウインド
  • English: Cid Highwind
Cid Highwind is a prominent character in Final Fantasy VII and its related works. He is one of the many characters in the series to bear the name "Cid" and is known for owning the airship, the "Highwind." Cid is a former Shinra engineer and rocket scientist with an unfulfilled dream of sending a rocket into space. He harbors a strong distrust of the Shinra Company, and when one of its executives attempts to steal his plane, the "Tiny Bronco," he joins Cloud and his allies in fighting against Shinra. Cid is one of the most uncouth of the protagonists, often swearing, losing his temper, and chain-smoking. Despite this, he has a good heart and is even voted a temporary leader of the party during Cloud and Tifa's absence. Cid wields spears in battle, and his Limit abilities involve jumping and landing on enemies with his spear to inflict devastating damage. He is a firm believer in the power of science, thinking that through knowledge and hard work, nothing is impossible. His motto is: "I put my faith in science. Because of science, humans who used to crawl around on the ground can now fly, and soon we're about to go into space!"
