Wedge is a supporting character in the Final Fantasy VII series. He has a minor supporting role in Final Fantasy VII, but his role is expanded to a major supporting role in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Wedge is a core member of the Avalanche organization led by Barret Wallace, and is best friends with Biggs and Jessie Rasberry. He primarily focuses on the technological aspects of Avalanche's operations, working to oppose the Shinra Electric Power Company. Wedge is self-described as "roly-poly" and enjoys food. He has black hair held back with a red bandana. He is cheerful but also has self-esteem issues regarding his weight and contribution to Avalanche. He cares about his teammates, especially Cloud's emotional well-being, and expresses his desire for friendship. Wedge is also known for caring for numerous cats and is considered a “cat whisperer” in the slums. In the original game, Wedge dies defending the Sector 7 pillar, but in the Remake, he is rescued and assists in the Shinra Building mission before tragically dying when the building is destroyed.
