Biggs

In Final Fantasy VIII, Biggs is a recurring non-player character, often appearing alongside his subordinate, Wedge. They are soldiers in the Galbadian army and are encountered by the main party multiple times throughout the game, though their presence is often played for comedic relief. Biggs is the higher-ranking of the two, wearing a red uniform, while Wedge wears a blue one. They are frequently demoted due to their incompetence and slapstick antics. Biggs is generally portrayed as a bossy and overconfident leader, while Wedge is an obsequious sidekick who follows his superior despite his often-erroneous orders. They are first encountered at the Dollet Communication Tower and later appear in the D-District Prison. Though they appear as minor bosses in the game, they ultimately choose to abandon their posts in the military. Biggs and Wedge are a common running gag in the Final Fantasy series, paying homage to the Star Wars characters Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles.
