Martine

Martine, also known as Dodonna in some versions of *Final Fantasy VIII*, is the headmaster of Galbadia Garden. He is a middle-aged man with swept-back blond hair and a serious demeanor. Unlike the homely Headmaster Cid of Balamb Garden, Martine wears a formal long dark blue trench coat with gold trimmings. Galbadia Garden is not a SeeD training facility but focuses on combat with firearms. Martine has close ties to the Galbadian government, making the Garden susceptible to political influence. Concerned about Sorceress Edea's influence on Galbadian President Deling, Martine plots an assassination attempt. After the attempt fails, he is exiled to Fisherman's Horizon, where he is found. Martine is also a skilled Triple Triad player, holding cards that the player may have lost to Galbadia Garden students, including the Ifrit card.
