Zone

Zone is a non-player character in *Final Fantasy VIII*. He is the leader of the Forest Owls, a resistance faction in the Galbadian-governed nation of Timber. Despite being the leader, Zone is cowardly and often lets Rinoa Heartilly take the lead. Zone has short dark brown hair. He wears a blue fleece jacket with a red label, cropped indigo pants, and brown shoes. He is known for being easily nervous and complaining of stomach pains when under pressure. He holds the missable Shiva card, for which the player has a narrow window of opportunity to obtain. Zone's past includes traumatic experiences, which may explain his displays of cowardice. His father was publicly executed by the Galbadian government, leading to his hatred for Galbadia and its president. Despite this, he leads a grassroots resistance organization hoping to one day overthrow the tyranny. Zone seems to have a soft spot for women, and his interest in 'naughty magazines' is a local joke. He even relinquishes his train ticket during an escape, feeling he can't leave a lady stranded. He is also protective of Rinoa, the Forest Owls' 'princess,' and gets furious when he feels Squall fails to protect her.
