Diamond

"Diamond Dust" is a signature ice-elemental attack used by the summon Guardian Force Shiva in Final Fantasy VIII. When summoned, Shiva unleashes this powerful ability, dealing ice damage to all enemies. The damage calculation is based on a complex formula, where the enemy's elemental defense plays a crucial role. If an enemy's elemental defense is below 800, they take additional damage, while values above 1000 can result in damage absorption. This ability has appeared multiple times in the Final Fantasy series, often considered Shiva's iconic move. Its effects and presentations vary across games, but the visual of freezing enemies and shattering them is common. In Final Fantasy VIII, Shiva's summon time is roughly 12.9 seconds, and players can boost its damage to about 180% of the normal amount with timed button presses. This skill demonstrates the unique mechanics of Final Fantasy VIII, such as the Guardian Force summon system and interactive button commands.
