Flame Saber

In Final Fantasy VIII, the "Flame Saber" (フレイムタン), isn't a traditional fire-elemental sword, but rather one of Squall Leonhart's weapons, a Gunblade. This Gunblade is special because, through modifications, it unlocks Squall's special technique, "Renzokuken", with the finishing blow "Blasting Zone". Despite having "Flame" in its name, the weapon itself does not have fire attributes in the game. In fact, weapons in Final Fantasy VIII do not have inherent attributes, and elemental damage is mainly applied through the "Junction System", where magic is connected to character stats. Squall's Flame Saber can be upgraded using materials like "Ally Killing Sword", "Turtle Shell", and "Screw" at a junk shop. In the game's lore, there is a mention that a real Flame Saber that is not a gunblade may exist, but it never actually appears. Furthermore, the name "フレイムタン" (Flame Tongue) has appeared in other Final Fantasy series games, generally referring to a sword with fire attributes.
