Ulysses

In Final Fantasy VIII, the Ulysses (ユリシーズ) is a gun weapon usable by Irvine Kinneas. It is generally considered a low to mid-tier gun, offering no additional special effects. The Ulysses has a retro design, intended to absorb the powerful recoil from firing. In the game, the Ulysses is the second weapon that Irvine can obtain, providing 15 Attack and 108 Hit Rate. It can be acquired by spending 200 gil and specific materials such as a Steel Pipe, Bomb Fragment, and Screws. The Ulysses has appeared as a weapon for other characters in the series like in Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade and Final Fantasy Record Keeper, often providing a +10 Attack bonus. The name "Ulysses" is derived from the Latin "Ulixes", which is the name for Odysseus, the hero in the ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey.
