Morning Star

In Final Fantasy VIII, the "Morning Star" (モーニングスター) is one of the weapons used by the character Selphie. It is depicted as a flail with a spiked iron ball, though it appears in-game as a nunchaku. While the Morning Star is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series, its form and attributes vary across titles. In Final Fantasy VIII, the Morning Star has an attack power of 15 and a hit rate of 99, and requires 2 Steel Orbs and 2 Sharp Spikes for modification and upgrade. Compared to the Morning Star weapons of other Final Fantasy games, the one in Final Fantasy VIII has a distinct style, as it is tailored to Selphie's unique combat style and weapon preference. While this weapon is not considered top-tier in the game, it showcases the game's weapon modification system and character customization. Selphie's Morning Star is an interesting example of how traditional weapon concepts can be re-imagined within the Final Fantasy series.
