The "Sorceress Power" in *Final Fantasy VIII* is a mysterious magical force said to have been given to humanity by the Great Hyne. Sorceresses are women who possess this power, allowing them to use magic naturally without relying on Guardian Forces or Limit Breaks. This power must be passed down to a successor upon the sorceress's death; otherwise, she may not find peace. While legends hold sorceresses as descendants of Hyne and worthy of respect, they are also often persecuted and feared due to their immense power. Key antagonists in the game are sorceresses like Edea, Adel, and Ultimecia from the future. The manifestation of sorceress power varies; some favor elemental magic, while others wield pure energy or temporal magic. Additionally, sorceresses often have knights sworn to protect them, as Squall does for Rinoa and Seifer for Edea/Ultimecia. The use of sorceress power is often visually depicted by the appearance of wings, such as Rinoa's white angelic wings and Ultimecia's black demonic wings.
